Seattle Tenant Information Packet

All Seattle residential landlords must provide each tenant a copy of the tenant information pamphlet.  The pamphlet summarizes Washington as well as local Seattle landlord-tenant law. The pamphlet also has the voter registration information landlords are required to provide to tenants.

A landlord should always have the tenant sign an acknowledgment of receipt of the packet.

Seattle landlords are also required to register rental properties and provide all existing and new tenants a copy of the registration.

Failure to provide the packet may give the tenant the right to terminate the lease. The landlord could be liable for civil penalties, actual damages, reasonable attorney fees and costs.

The packet is available from the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections.
