After eviction, landlord files for past due included the rent, late fees, utility due until term of lease ends?

landlord has put an collection for rent past due and the payments due up to the term of the lease- 6 months including the late fees and water bill, the attorney representing the compnay states that landlord can get up to 6 months of rent after eviction. I was evicted in Jan 14, claims notices were sent, I did change of address, no notices sent except one to the person my mother who signed the lease agreement for me, with a total amount due of 7000.00 for the rent past due, including future rent, late fees and utilities.. How could this be?

How did you find out you were responsible for this? Take it to court. You have to be given notice to appear in court. Chances are you will see the same outcome, though.

If your mother signed on the lease and received notice then you were properly served.

How can this be? You forced a landlord to go through the motions of an eviction for failure to pay rent. You really didn’t think that this would just go away…did you? What type of notice are you looking for? You were evicted, didn’t pay what was owed, lawyer took over…no notice is needed. You will get notice of a court date for judgment if you fail to pay the lawyer. Hope mom has the money.

They should be able to collect for the cost to evict you, the cost of unpaid rent while you were in the home and unpaid rent until they could find someone else to rent the home, as well as any utilities you didn’t pay and late fee’s since they didn’t get rent on the days they were supose to.

what do you mean no notices were sent if your mother signed the lease agreement they would have sent it to her and by what you wrote she did receive one.
