you never stated why he even should comply with your request. If he was negligent then that could be the only reason he would have to do so.

NONE of your business, unless and until a court orders the information turned over.
Calling your LL names, slumlord, doesn’t really advance your case. YOU chose to rent the unit, no one made you, and you inspected it before moving in.
Didn’t your attorney tell you that personal injury lawsuits in Chicago take about 4 years to get to trial?

Why would a land lord give you information about his insurance policies? This is his business if he has insurance or not. What is serious that you would want to know his insurance information?

I don’t know about Chicago, but in California a land lord is not required to provide his tenants with a copy of any insurance he has on his property.

You should have renter’s insurance that would cover the items in your apartment.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

There is no reason that the landlord should give you any information about who is insurance provider is. Your attorney is correct, you have to wait. If you do not have time, you should not be suing. Civil lawsuits take time. I have a friend that was run over by a car, his suit has yet to go to trial, it has been over two years.
